Friday afternoons are not known as the most productive times in an organization. Why not take advantage of Friday afternoon, and do the following:
10 things to do on Friday afternoon
1. Clean up your desk, file the important documents, throw out the rest. Make your desktop visible again.
2. De-fragment and tidy up your computer and files, backup important information. Boring, but has to be done right?
3. Make a list of the projects and tasks you wish to deal with on Monday morning. Make Monday easier.
4. Review your calendar and schedule for the coming week, confirm appointments and make sure you’re prepared for meetings and presentations. Be on time and prepared.
5. Return all pending phone calls that have accumulated during the week. Follow-up.
6. Clean up your email inbox. Follow-up, follow-through, keep the communication moving.
7. Smile a lot, get excited about the weekend. Think of the future, not the past.
8. Call your spouse, significant other or best friend. Tell them to get dressed up and go out to a casual relaxing place that you have not been to in a while. It should remind you why you worked so hard all week. Give yourself a reward. Enjoy it.
9. If you are in a leadership or management position. Get out of your office and walk around, talk to people about anything but work. Ask if they have something special or exciting planned for the weekend. Listen and learn.
10. Do small random acts of kindness for subordinates and co-workers, these might include; give out Milk Duds and Lemonheads, buy a lottery ticket for everyone, take the “front line” workers out for a drink. Random acts of kindness. No ulterior motives.

1. Have a beer.
Love the idea of passing out candy! Lemonheads and MilkDuds are sure to be a hit. I’d take that a step further and feed the chocoholics too. Beer is an excellent idea also. Just think, if we worked the same office, we’d have twice as many Lemonheads. This could even lead to a raise and promotion. Morale officers are more liked in their companies than any of the other positions.
WARNING: if you follow the above advice you might be shot by your co-workers at work.

11. Give the IT helpdesk something to do, by unloading all your slight worries about your pc from not being able to change your wallpaper to something more urgent like ‘omg my emails have gone missing’.
Well seems to be on everyone else’s checklist.
Nice post. Makes sense. I think number 3 is the most important thing. Having a Monday to do list or task list creates an easy mindless monday.

well i would say everbody has his own committments and he in his postion knows the best he has to do on his weekends…………………well the idea of calling a spuse is not bad……everyone who reads these ten sentences my agree with all of them or even reject them……..or he may be in partial agreement with the floaten ideads……………….well i live in a hostel and what i think is to gear up and go back to my home to see my parents.

Trust me, everyone waits until 4:29 on the Friday before a long weekend to do that.
(~6 years in tech support…what, me burned out?! :P)
Very cool. I love thinking about the future. The past is the past and should be left in the past!
Good tips that I agree that should be looked into. I especially liked tip 7, it was kind of uplifting to be reminded of something that is so simple yet is always taken for granted.
This tips are great.
I spend my Friday afternoons predicting the weekend games :) and chatting with friends on instant messengers.
