    Hello
We are a small US Canadian company that builds adventure tours. We are currently starting this week on a 3 month project in Mexico. We are just now being told by the client that they have to withhold 25% of our fees because of Mexican taxes. We are not physically being paid in Mexico. They are wiring the monies direct into our Canadian account so do they have to still withhold the funds?

A response would be greatly appreciated because we can not afford to take 25% cut and might have to call off the project.

    Thank You,
    Carl

    Good Day Carl,

    Thank you for writing.

I’m not sure about the situation you have described and don’t fully understand how you are charging the Mexican client.

Is this Mexican client being given a Canadian invoice for services provided by your company?

If this is the case I see no reason why any Mexican taxes would be withheld.

I strongly suggest you contact the nearest Mexican Embassy in Canada to clarify and also contact the Canadian embassy here in Mexico for more detailed information.

Please let me know the outcome.

    Hi Lee -

Came across your webiste by accident - very interesting and good observations. I ave been in GTO since ‘99 and mas o menios could [if I did] offer similar observations: maybe a paraphrase of –op/Look/Listen–and then entry into the culture opens. We [ my Thai wife and I] are in Leon usually once a week [to visit Thai/Chilean friends and do our non-GTO shopping] Perhaps our paths can cross.

Under your carreers, you said you worked in “Import/Export.” What does that mean? What is it? Does it have to do with illegal immigration? I’m asking because I’m debating about illegal immigration in a club, and I would like to quote you if you have credentials =)
