And the BIGGIE
Dialing an 800 number in the US from Mexico = use 880 in place of 800, and of course pay for it.

Great example of a set of decisions made by a bureaucratic committee who doesn’t understand how to make things easier for the consumer (therefore increasing revenue!).

This is an awesome site!!! I needed to quickly call my husband on his new Mexican cell, and it wouldn’t go through. So I did a web search and found your site. Love the layout of the information–very user friendly–the Handy Telephone Dialing Guide was great.
Thanks!

Lee,
Does the rules stipulated on this post work for cell phones that are American cell phones operating in Mexico?

Matt,
The rules should apply if the US phones are connecting with the Mexican Cellphone providers (TELCEL for example). This is usually what happens when you bring your phone to Mexico…if there is a problem you can go to any TELCEL office and buy a GSM chip and local number for around MXN $ 150.00
Let me know if you have a problem please.
